I don't apply for free testing for cancer (see prev post) because I'm not over age 40. \o/ I feel bad about it but I bit off every single person's head on the phone that answered me that way. =A=;;; Women under 40 can get breast cancer- hopefully I don't have it, it's likely something else statistically, but, still, there is a lump that shouldn't be there, you jerk clinics. I am not calling asking for a free fondling alone. Bah, I'll call around more on Monday. *grumbles* What a joke. There's so many 'free' offers but only if you meet certain requirements (age being one of them). FAIL.

God don't these people get that checking it early means YOU CAN GET CURED? IT MEANS THAT EVEN WITH A POSITIVE RESULT, YOU HAVE A CHANCE TO LIVE. Unlike the cancer my mom got, for example, which only shows symptoms once it's advanced enough that the chance of surviving it is really, really low. F*ckers. According to this new screening BS that's been in the news lately, it's women OVER 40 who don't need the mammograms every year, presumably because they have LESS of a chance of developing breast cancer, and MORE of a chance of getting a false result from the test.

I kind of snapped at the receptionist for my dentist who called me the other day to confirm my auto-appointment. I told her I couldn't afford to go there anymore (they always do all these x-ray scans on me and it costs over $100 for even a basic checkup; I know they're doing it to pay for their equipment).

Ah, I had that same problem last year. I kept refusing appointments I didn't NEED (like cleaning/check up) that cost money, and only going when something was actually. They acted so offended, but my God their charges get so unreasonable.;;;

I used to work in a cancer hospital - I know very well that people can develop cancer at all ages. Sure, it is more likely as you get older, but do they really want to take that chance?

My aunt is a nurse and my mother had breast cancer when I was in high school - I could ask them for their opinions if you'd like? Though I know that's not a replacement for getting tested.

Seriously, if you need help calling around or even just doing searches for applicable clinics, I am so willing to help.

Wow.... 0___o The current American healthcare system sounds... really frustrating. I'm a little bit of a hypochondriac and I think I would feel so vulnerable if I wasn't able to just book an appointment at the local doctors whenever I felt like something was wrong!
